Plaza glitters

Party celebrates season, showcases facility

It took more than nine days to do it, but Teresa Horn and Preservation Plaza facilities coordinator Katie Kinney transformed the already elegant site into a Christmas wonderland.

There was no outside customer for this shindig. The owners wanted to have a party at their building to celebrate the season and showcase the progress at Preservation Plaza. The Christmas party was hosted by Doug and Teresa Horn of Quality Financial Concepts, who own Preservation Plaza.

The event was held on Nov. 27. Teresa Horn said she and Kinney worked hard to transform the facility after the last wedding party of the fall was held at the plaza. The work paid off and a large crowd came to see, Horn said.

“We had a couple hundred people, and we had a lot of fun,” said Horn. The party is an annual party that Teresa and Doug Horn started years ago. “It goes back all the way to when Doug and I got married. We always put together a personal party,” she said.

Their event in Dallas often attracted between 50 and 80 people. They were surprised when, after arriving in Maryville in August of 2001, that by Christmas they had met so many people that more than 100 that showed for the first party.

“It really floored us,” Doug Horn said of the response to the party that first Christmas in Maryville.

The couple always hosted a party for business associates and one for friends and decided to combine the two. When the couple bought the six-story office building downtown and renamed it Preservation Plaza, they decided the party would be there this year.

Teresa said their friends in Blount County have, “added to our quality of life and made Maryville such a dear place to us.”

“We wanted to showcase the place and say thank you to folks,” said Doug.
