Happy holiday fun benefits education foundations

The $10 Club ladies like to have a good time, but the charities the club donates money to are never far from their minds. The annual $10 Club Christmas Party was a success on both the “fun” level and the “fund raising” level.

More than $1,500 was raised through ticket sales and an auction of donated goods. The group has decided to give $500 to each of the three education foundations in Blount.

Santa (David Dwyer) showed up to remind everyone that Christmas day was just heartbeat away.

David Rader baked his traditional Christmas pie for the auction, bringing in a final bid of $135. The crowd was restless, however, so David offered to bake another one -- to be delivered next week. The second pie brought $150.
