One person died and another injured in an early morning wreck Dec. 4 on Alcoa Highway, Alcoa police said.
According to an APD press release, at 7:48 a.m. Dec. 4, Alcoa police officers responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Alcoa Highway at Wheeler Road. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a two-car crash involving a 1998 Nissan Maxima driven by Marla M. Venable, 19, Maryville and a 2004 Ford Taurus driven by Patrizia H. Hull, 42, Louisville.
Officers quickly determined that Hull was dead. Alcoa Fire Department First Responders and Rural/Metro Ambulance personnel arrived and transported her body to Blount Memorial Hospital where a blood alcohol test was administered with results pending.
Officials said the cause of the accident was failure to yield by Hull.
