Heritage High celebrates arts with showcase of four programs

Heritage High School has combined all four of its fine arts programs to present to the public, a "Celebration of the Arts." Student work and performances will be showcased by each of the following departments: Band, Choir, Theatre Arts, and Visual Arts.

HHS Visual Arts students will be displaying and offering for purchase, original art in the Commons area. Half the proceeds from the sale of student artwork will go to the student/artist. The remaining funds will be donated to the HHS Theatre for
the stage curtain fund. Art students will also be on hand to discuss their work and to paint children’s faces.

Performances will include: The Fifteen Minute Hamlet, by Tom Stoppard, a short version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet; "Don’t Worry, Be Happy" (Bobby McFerrin), performed by HHS Singers; "Caro Mio ben" (Giuseppe Giordani), solo performance by Adam Zacher; "Come to Me O My Love" (Allan Robert Petker), performed by HHS Concert Choir; "Broken Vow" (Josh Groban, arranged by David Foster), solo performance by Brad Taylor; "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" (Peter C. Lutkin), performed by HHS Singers; "Sonata in A Minor" (Marcello), Bass Clarinet Solo by Danielle Carbonneau; "On the Wings of Swallows" (Michael Sweeney), HHS Saxophone Ensemble; "Concerto in Eb Major" (Joseph Hayden), Trumpet Solo by Zack
Nyein; and "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Freddie Mercury), HHS Wind Ensemble.

This event has been arranged as a fundraising effort so Heritage may purchase new stage curtains to replace the old curtains, which have suffered a great deal of wear over the years. The established fundraising goal is $10,000.
As a bonus, local artist, Boone Gray, December, 2003 HHS graduate, will open our evening with astorytelling selection.

The event is Tuesday, April 24. Performances and art displays will begin at 7 p.m., and will conclude at 9 p.m. Tickets, which are $5, will be on sale at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m.
