Democrats celebrate with Roosevelt Dinner

The Blount County Democratic party and the Democratic Women’s Club will honor Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president, at their yearly fundraiser.

The dinner will be held Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the Airport Hilton. Former House Majority Leader, Kim McMillan, who is
now serving as senior advisor to Gov. Phil Bredesen, will speak.

McMillan of Clarksville served 12 years in the legislative branch of Tennessee Government. The last four years of which she served as House Majority Leader, and is the first woman in Tennessee history to serve in that position.

McMIllan was also instrumental in helping Governor Bredesen get his Cover Tennessee program through the legislature. It is hoped that Cover Tennessee will begin to make healthcare affordable to the small businesses and individuals in Tennessee.
