Relay for Life, a fund raiser that gives money for cancer research,
isnt until June, but many teams get a head start raising funds
for their teams. The Rock Crushers of Vulcan Materials Co. is no
exception. The group recently announced that their Relay for Life team
had raised $10,000 for the 2007 campaign. Relay for Life is a community
event that last from dusk to dawn with the goal of raising money and
awareness for cancer research. It is a fun event with a serious
mission, to be held again this year on the campus of Maryville College.
Dates are June 8 and 9. The event will feature the relay, luminaries,
food, activities, entertainment and a host of other events. Chairs for
the 2007 event are Cathy and Mark Cate. Team members recently presented
a "Survivorship Celebration Sponsor" check.
Participating in the check presentation are, front row, from left,
