William Blount’s Governors control their playoff destiny entering the regular season’s final week. A win over rival Heritage clinches the fourth spot in Region 2-5A. A loss coupled with an Oak Ridge win at Farragut would secure the fourth spot for the Wildcats. An Oak Ridge loss would send the Governors through to postseason regardless of the outcome of the contest with the Mountaineers. Region 2-5A’s fourth seed will travel to 1-5A champion Dobyns Bennett for the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs.

The Region 2-2A champion Tornadoes host No. 7-ranked Booker T. Washington in the regular season finale on Thursday. Second-ranked Alcoa will host Happy Valley, Chuckey-Doak or Cumberland Gap in a Class 2A playoff opener. Chuckey-Doak concludes the regular season at Happy Valley. If Chuckey-Doak wins, Happy Valley becomes Region 1-2A’s fourth seed and travels to Alcoa. If Happy Valley wins, Chuckey-Doak becomes the fourth seed, providing Cumberland Gap loses at winless West Greene on Friday. A Cumberland Gap win and a Chuckey-Doak loss would give the fourth seed to Cumberland Gap, which defeated Chuckey-Doak earlier this season.
