Springbrook Splendor

Park dresses up for holidays

The first of the Hometown Christmas events kicked off the holidays on Monday when Springbrook Park put on its Christmas finery with a tree lighting, visit from Santa, holiday train rides, music, hot chocolate and cookies.

It was a beautiful night, with music and drama by Soul-E-Unified, the drama team of High Praises Church. The pathways in the upper fields of the park were bright with luminaries and the majestic tree was bright with lights and red bows.

Santa arrived in a fire truck to the claps and cheers of the children -- and adults who believe -- and took his place in his special chair to hoist the children onto his lap and hear their Christmas wishes.

Darrell Watkins attended the holiday event and took these photos for Blount Today.
