"SKITmas at the Palace: a Broadway Christmas Revue" will offer both a touch of classic theater and a nod to the holiday season with the debut production of Southern Kids In Theater on Dec. 8-9.

Blount County’s newest theater group is for children ages 5 to 17 and has 48 in the theater group.

"SKITmas at the Palace" features a variety of skits and songs from feature films such as "Gone with the Wind" and "Steel Magnolias," and from Broadway musicals such as "Annie," "Les Miserable," "Chicago," "Sound of Music," "Phantom of the Opera" and Disney classics such as "Mulan," "Cinderella," "Beauty and the Beast," "Sleeping Beauty" and "The Lion King."

Christmas songs and skits will include "The Grinch," "Frosty the Snowman" and "Polar Express."

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 and 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Palace Theater. Tickets for the performances are $10, $12 at the door. To purchase tickets, contact Debbie or Larry Lonsdale at 865-380-4387. Tickets may also be purchased at Blount Today, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SKIT was started and is directed by Debbie Lonsdale.
