Groundbreaking at DENSO

The expansion is underway. Officials broke ground Wednesday afternoon on the much-anticipated plant expansion of DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee on a 55-acre site off Middlesettlements Road in Blount County. Matt Kisber, Tennessee Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, Masahiko "Mack" Hattori, president of DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee and a host of county, city and state officials gathered at the construction site to celebrate the groundbreaking of the $185 million project.

When completed, the new electronics division is expected to create up to 500 new jobs in Blount County by 2010.

Blount Today's Senior reporter Lance Coleman was there and has posted a video of the groundbreaking. Go to the Blount Today website to see the 4 1/2 minute video.
