Robbie wasn’t even at the smoker yet when I arrived at my sister Gail’s house, but one look at the ribs he was preparing sent me home to get my camera for In the Kitchen.

When I came back a few hours later -- camera in hand -- the aroma made me glad I also brought an empty stomach! I could smell these wonderful smoked ribs as I was walking up the sidewalk.

Here is Robbie’s recipe:

Smoked Ribs
(With Dry Rub)

2 racks of ribs, 3 to 4 lbs each
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon onion powder
3/4 tsp. celery salt
3/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix all dry ingredients then rub or pat on ribs. Place in smoker. Also add about 3 cups of wood chips that have been soaked in water in a pan or rack in the smoker. Cook for 45 minutes per pound.
