A crowd packed the Grounded Coffee and More coffee shop on High Street in Maryville on Nov. 4 for the CD release party of Christian singer/songwriter Kermit Easterling.

Fans of all ages listened as the band introduced the new CD "Worship at the Crossroads."

According to his website,, Easterling and his band were thankful for the response from fans during the CD release party.

"I wanted to thank everyone who came out to Grounded for our CD Release show. We had a blast and have received rave reviews from everyone who picked up the CD," Easterling wrote.

The group will be back at Grounded on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Lisa Williams, Grounded Coffee and More owner, was pleased with the crowd response.

"We didn’t know how many people would be here," she said. "We knew kids would be here. The high schools with (Fellowship of Christian Athletes groups) had announced there was going to be a CD release party."

Williams said they expected between 25 and 50 kids.

"All of a sudden, the whole parking lot was filled on both sides with high school kids, Maryville College kids," she said. "The kids stayed until the music stopped. It was pretty neat."

Many adults stopped just to see what the commotion was and stayed for the music. According to Williams’ cash register, she sold more than 170 different items.

"The smoothies were the hit. There wasn’t a lot of expresso sold, but lots of smoothies and soft drinks were sold," Williams said.

Darrell Watkins with Blount Today was on hand and captured these images of the fun.
