Ask Brenda Sellers if she ever got paddled in school, and shes quick to defend herself.
" No. I only got called into the principals office for fighting. However, Principal Neubert Harless just sent me back to class. He had already heard that I was defending myself from getting thrown into the shower?. and I didnt get thrown in the shower."
Since those days, Sellers has built a life, a family and a career. She is married to her husband Ed and has one son, Dustin. Beside being a wife and mom, she is the president of Chroma, Inc. She also is the outgoing president of the Maryville Kiwanis.

Why did you pursue the career you chose?
"I didnt choose this career?it just happened. I only wanted to be
a mom."
What is one word others often use to describe you and
why?
Sellers says people often describe her as enthusiastic.
When you were 5 years old, what did you want to be when you grew
up?
Sellers says she wanted to be a mom at 5 years old.
Whats the best thing about Blount County?
"Whats not to like? Blount County is the best place to live."
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it
be?
"Get rid of the big nose."
What is your passion?
Sellers says her passions are photography and riding motorcycles.
With whom, living or dead, would you most like to have a long
lunch?
Sellers says she would eat lunch with her grandmother Irene White
Prater. She also would llike to eat with Camera Club and fellow Kiwanis
member Jack W. Proffitt, friend, Pam Howard, her aunt Betty Cowan and
Joy Bishop.
What do you hate?
Sellers quoted Dr. Jerry Russell of Fairview United Methodist Church
who teaches "You who love the Lord, hate evil." Psalm 97:1.
Whats your favorite quote?
"Been there, done that and live every day as if it is your last!"
What do you do to relax or for fun?
"I will rest in peace when I die. Otherwise, there are still many
things on the to do list to accomplish. I have fun at
everything that I do."
What is your favorite toy?
Sellers favorite toy is her Blackberry electronic organizer.
Rebels, Tornadoes, Mountaineers or Governors?
"I support all local teams. Husband, Ed and I were Friendsville
Falcons; son, Dustin was a William Blount Gov. The Maryville Kiwanis
Club supports both Maryville Middle and High Key and Builders Club as
well as Heritage Builders Club. I also support Maryville College and
Alcoa (High School)."
What is the best book youve ever read?
"There are many to name, but I have a huge list of every book that I
have read in my Day Timer as well as every movie that I have ever
watched."
If you won a big lottery jackpot, what is the charitable donation
you would make?
Sellers says she would make charitable donations to Fairview United
Methodist Church, Maryville Kiwanis (Imagination Library project),
United Way and the animal shelter.
"To splurge I would buy my sons band Overzealous a tour bus, more bells and whistles for Eds "Dragon" (chopper motorcycle), new racing dirt bikes for nephews Randall and Jesse Prater, enough clothes, shoes and make-up for Balee for a lifetime.
Would you travel in space?
"Space travel is really not on my list of things to do, but, yes, if I
had the opportunity, I would travel in space."
If you could go back in time for a week, what time period or year
would you visit?
"I would rather go into the future and check out all the cool cars and
future forms of transportation."
If you couldnt live in Blount County, where would you like
to live?
"I do think it would be funny to live in Hell, Michigan or in Hell,
Cayman Islands."
Who has been the best United States president of the last 100
years and why?
"If I listed a Republican president my Dad, Harold White Prater, a
strong democrat would disown me, so I will pass on this question."
Coke or Pepsi?
Sellers says theres no question, she enjoys Mountain Dew over
either Pepsi or Coca-Cola.
If you were Queen for a Day, what edict would you immediately
pass?
Sellers says she would mandate free Mountain Dew, barbecue and
chocolate for everyone.
What is your favorite animal and why?
Sellers likes her "grand dogs" Chester, Lucie, Como and her Shiatsu,
Ringo.
What is the best present you ever received?
The best present Sellers says she ever received were designer clothes
and pajamas from Belk CHROMA employees gave her, as well as weekend
stay at Grove Park Inn, The Hippensteals Bed and Breakfast and
cases of Mountain Dew. "I am very blessed to be working with such great
people; the CHROMA employees are the best!"
What is the best advice your mother ever gave you?
"Hang up and drive!"
What was your first paying job?
"First cash job was collecting glass Coke bottles and returning for
deposit. First paycheck was from Parks and Rec. for working the
concession stands at ballgames. It was not a profitable job for me,
because I spent most of my paycheck
buying and then eating most of the snacks at the concession
stand."
