For those weary of the hustle and bustle of the season, the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center offered a step back to a simpler time at their holiday celebration.

Christmas Memories was held at the Townsend center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1-3. The Cardwell and Montvale Station cabins were decorated for the holidays with turn-of-the-century decorations and holiday lore.
Participants were served hot spiced cider that had been brewed over an open hearth and cookies.

The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center celebrates the cultural heritage of East Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains region with exhibits, educational programs, demonstrations and activities designed to take visitors "on a textured, historic journey through the diverse cultures of Townsend and the surrounding area."
