The Blount County Civil War Round Table (BCCWRT) -- has scheduled their annual "Civil War Time Christmas" for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 429 Sandy Springs Road, Maryville. The activities will include refreshments, dress, and entertainment of the era. The public is cordially invited. The mission of the Blount County Civil War Round Table is to educate with regard to history and heritage of the Civil War by living history, efforts with other historical groups, preserving Civil War sites, understanding regional and local concerns, and recognizing the contributions of various groups. Internet Safety Seminar -- will be at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, at Eagleton Middle School. Blount County Sheriff’s Department will be discussing internet predators & how easy it is to get personal info, etc., the admission is free but donations for the PTO will be accepted, it’s open to the community, pre-registration required. MLK Choir Practice Schedule -- MLK Celebration Choir rehearsals are open to the public and anyone who would like to sing in the choir is asked to attend as many of the practices as possible.

Living Nativity -- (drive thru) from 6 - 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16-17, at Logan’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Relive the Christmas story in a quiet, rural setting. William Blount High School Choral Christmas concert -- will be at 7 p.m., Thursday Dec. 14, at William Blount High School. Tickets are available at the door, $5 for adults and $3 for students. There will also be a chili supper from 5:30-7 p.m. in the cafeteria, tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students, this includes a bowl of chili, drink and desert. All proceeds go to support the choral department.

Maryville’s Weight Loss Surgery Support Group -- meet at 10 a.m., the second Saturday of each month, at Pellissippi State College Library in Maryville. The purpose of this group is for those people who are thinking about having gastric surgery (Bypass or Band) for weight loss. Support questions and answers from people that have gone through the procedure. Find out the good and bad news about issues involved with this major surgery.

Baton twirling classes -- are being offered through Carole’s School of Baton in conjunction with the Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County Parks and Recreation. Classes for ages 4 and up are held at the Springbrook Recreation Center in Alcoa. National accredited instructors Carole Flynn and Connie Williams teach the basic twirls along with dance-twirl, strutting, and twirling routines. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the area Christmas parade, annual spring recital, twirling competitions and try out for award winning teams. The Joshua Resource Center -- is enrolling new participants for the Fall session New Beginnings CWJC(R) program. Women who may feel isolated, alone and without hope will find a safe place to re-focus, be trained in a variety of life skills, work skills and experience the love of Christ.
