The event, sponsored by MasterCraft and the Junior Service League, raised $8,500 at the run, held at Sandy Springs Park. Contributions, of which 100 percent benefit Toys for Tots of Blount County, were collected from runners, event sponsors and children participating in the kids Tot Trot. More than 100 people participated in the event, which included a 1 mile dash, 5K/3.2 mile run/walk, a 1 mile walk and the Tot Trot.
Each year the Junior Service League of Maryville provides Christmas gifts for nearly 1,500 underprivileged Blount County children. These children attend local schools, local churches, and, most importantly, are an integral part of the community.
The Junior Service League of Maryville purchased the rights of the
Toys for Tots of Blount County from the Marine Corp.
several years ago. Since then the responsibility of raising money to
purchase each underprivileged child a box full of toys has rested with
the Junior Service League.
