After teaching for a short period of time, he went to work as a police reporter with the Chattanooga Free Press. After five years with the newspaper, he left following the merger of the Chattanooga Times and the Chattanooga Free Press. Two years later her relocated to Blount County and began working as a police and courts reporter with The Daily Times. After four years there, he moved onto to become lead reporter at Blount Today. He has since been promoted to editor.
