Baking books
Gooey icing, sticky fingers and slicing up a favorite book with a knife aren’t normal fare for any library. The Blount County Public Library not only tolerated such behavior this past week, they recruited and celebrated just such behavior. The annual Edible Books contest filled the library with a creative – and tasty – look at literature as interested adults, teens and children created their favorite books in the form of cakes. The cakes were then judged in adult, teen and juvenile categories, plus four special categories of Judges’ Choice, Humorous, Creative and Viewer’s Choice. Winners were announced at a reception at the library.
